Whenever The Evil Dead is mentioned, I like to note that this was the film I was watching at the Odeon in Edinburgh when the cinema cat decided to jump up on my knee.

That poster is so much more exciting than the really dull film.

I like Edward Edgeworth as well. I think this could usefully be employed to deflate some performatively contoversial comedians. "Ooh, get you, Edward Edgeworth!"

The non-Universals seem to get a bit overwhelmed by Uni’s marketing and fandom. Also, the best of the non-Unis (DJ&MH, Island of Lost Souls, Mystery of the Wax Museum) were for a long time either unavailable, or available only in compromised versions.

It's certainly among the oddest creative decisions you're ever likely to see. Obviously, the success of the Miss Marple films, with their emphasis on comedy was a huge factor, but this one takes it too far, and then much further than that. Margaret and Stringer pop up for a brief cameo at one point.

It's a very bad film indeed, but I wouldn't put it in my bottom 100 films, heck I don't think it's the worst Christie I've seen. At least I made it all the way through and didn't have to switch it off after about 20 minutes like I did with Branagh's Death on the Nile.
