The DNC seems to have settled on a permanent policy of relying on the shittiness of the GOP for votes without offering anything back. That’s not an accident. The party is a vehicle for people who would rather grumble under Trumpian fascism than concede popular policies that hurt their bottom line.

Even if we fall short of completely abandoning the current system, remember that more strong parties also means coalitions. Say the dems split, and the republicans win a plurality. That doesn’t necessarily mean they govern. A progressive party can work with the democrats, but not under them.

Now, you may think I am being naive in saying that the U.S. needs to look at other options. Fine. But consider that you are being naive if you think that the established monied interests in the DNC would ever allow an actually left wing takeover of their party.

I didn’t say it was *the* reactionary party, I said it was *a* reactionary party. The average Democratic politician clocks in at around the same space as most centre right parties in other Western countries. This is especially true for economic policy, where they are vanguards of neoliberalism.

Entryism doesn’t have the best track record. If you pull it off, you’ll get a double celebration- not only did you successfully change a centre-right behemoth, but it would be the first time, *ever*, where a reactionary party of the ruling class has been hijacked against it.

Begging for crumbs at the DNC is a losing strategy because, even if it works, you’ll just have easily revoked crumbs.

Here’s the thing though- Trump is the apocalypse for that system. There is no going back to normal, even after he croaks. And its nothing to be mourned- it was a shit system at the best of times. But the American Left really needs to get its shit together in order to be a player in what is to follow

Who does this alienate? I’d further it by saying that abortion is a necessary *last* line of defense, and that anyone actually interested in reducing abortion rates should support ubiquitous and free contraceptives and a robust sexual education curriculum.

Or, and this is just me freewheeling, abandon the two party system. As long as the DSA works within the DNC, they will be beholden to much wealthier and much more powerful centre right forces. The two party system is a race to the bottom.

Imagine how much she would lose her shit if someone tried to convert passengers to Islam on a plane. I strongly doubt “freedom of speech” would be on her lips then.

The Democrats should say “fuck them, let’s appeal to the people who feel let down by both parties.” But, if they did that, they would be a whole new party, wouldn’t they?

These are the people who would rather drink poison out of a Coke can than drink Coke out of a Pepsi can. No matter how much the democrats shift right and bend over backwards to appease the “moderate Republicans,” it’s a branding issue, not a policy issue.

The Petrodollar is one of the most powerful methods of control that the US has maintained for decades. Already we are seeing the slow, quiet birth of the Petroeuro and especially the Petroyuan. It was inevitable, but Trumps brash idiocy has only hastened the death of American hegemony.

No, not petroleum in general (though it is already losing its primacy, as China and EU especially move away from reliance on it). The Petrodollar, meaning the fact that oil is always bought and sold using US dollars, is doomed thanks to Trump (actually, it’s a good thing, thanks, Trump!)

For now. Long term, he has doomed the petrodollar.

Here’s the thing about Trump. His idiotic sense of masculinity leads him to think that soft power is weak. Soft power is how the American Empire has ruled for decades. Governments around the world, from Canada to China to Denmark, are having a readjustment period, but it isn’t sustainable for the US

Trump tearing up the MoU has only further sidelined any forces that would have been open to a softer approach with the U.S. and its lapdog.

I’m not so sure how much of a partnership Trump actually has with the Venezuelan government. It remains to be seen if Rodriguez is a traitor, or if she is being strategic. The Iranian government will certainly not be a partner. They’ve already won and they know it.

If they don’t like the Canadian Fires of 2026, maybe we need to go back to the classics and re-start the fire of 1814.

His dangerous supporters aren’t stupid. They know that Trump will basically let them eat everything on the planet and hoard absurd amounts of wealth. The most dangerous Trump supporters are evil, not stupid. Except Musk, who gets to be both.
