I agree, I'm just talking about the way media has been lately, most especially people's weak comprehension of it. Most "soandso DEBUNKS whatshisname" type videos have this same essential format; whatshisname says A, soandso counters with B, the video ends with "boom, gotcha." People being people,

Sure there's countries that aren't doing these things, but they generally feel like smaller players who'll just get caught in whatever comes next. The entire world is diving headlong into blood and chaos, and this is a very small ball of dirt; there's nowhere to hide.

The clip doesn't help, being that it ends with him countering your point, which in the language of online clips feels like he "debunked" you, implying you were "wrong" somehow. That's a fun conversation though! I like that idea, thinking of APs in that way, where familiarity feeds enjoyment.

I love the "gay sex is outside the mandate" because they're trying to avoid the "what if it was reversed" trope, but they still desperately want their "straight people are oppressed" fantasy.

She's captain of the Witch's Mercy, one of the largest pirate ships on the water. Her slogan is "I am at war with all empires," and she absolutely means it; she'll take targets of opportunity, but her primary raids are targets no one else would hit. She even met Caroline by raiding London itself.

Lina is Spanish, born poor in Barcelona where she watched the ships come and go. Eventually she stowed away, found a pirate crew, and has been raiding ever since. Now she's one of the deadliest pirate captains on the water, with a brilliant tactical mind and a vicious daring streak.

Importantly, Caroline lived as a sex worker before she was embraced, and she never forgot that life or her people. Once she had enough money she started setting up funds to take care of street workers as best she could without giving the game away, and she still has people maintaining that.

Caroline is British, embraced in London in the mid 1600s; by the time of the story she's been bored for decades. Her gift is manipulation and secrecy; she's destroyed entire noble bloodlines and nobody knew she existed. To her, the idea of brazenly sinking ships is like a naughty thrill.
