Writer, reader, gamer. Still mostly bogling to Aswad. https://wouldyouliketochangethedifficultysetting.wordpress.com/ Any pronouns. No alt text? No follow, no matter how cool & interesting you are. There will be swears.

Well, I've found 2 very brief mentions in criminology books and a few vague references in various film study journals, so looks like writing this chapter is going to make me the world's leading scholar on Police Academy. I knew I would find my niche eventually.

Alright, weird request, but can anyone point me to academic papers on Police Academy? Ideally the film franchise but will take cartoon series if that's all there is. Have so far found 1 that discusses films in relation to modern representations of police in film but surely there's more than that?!

Had one of these yesterday claiming a cutting edge US tech podcast wanted to interview me about my 2019 short story about talking animals because of its 'prescient qualities' 🤔

You guys have been talking like the "Scam AI Book Club" e-mails are getting harder to spot, but I just had my first one and it's "a salsa class in Sydney, Australia want to read your academic-press essay collection on Classical and Celtic-influenced British identity formation"

I strongly believe this goes for every creative thing.

Shigeru Miyamoto says the games that resonate most with players all around the world aren’t those deliberately designed for global appeal, but those based on a developer’s personal interests. www.videogameschronicle.com/news/miyamot...

This weekend I have watched the new He-Man movie and the 2nd Mortal Kombat. He-Man was great fun & the first time Jared Leto's been watchable since Fight Club. MK was fine, although it was a little like every finisher strung together in the semblance of a movie & there wasnt enough Kano in this one.

Been writing about frustrating experiences for vocal disorder memoir & haven't put this in yet, but am reminded of when I took my dog to dog training classes and the instructor noticed I had trained him to hand signals and asked why. I explained my vocal disorder.

There's unconventional romance and then there's whatever the hell I've ended up doing here. Michel Faber told me to do it! (True story) Pre-order here: www.fairlightbooks.co.uk/books/strang...

Google just sent me one of those really annoying "hey remember all these pictures?" recaps and it's the first time I was like... I have no recollection of the point in my life when I looked like Will from Inbetweeners, but apparently that happened.

Train extremely full and extremely hot and I'm very aware my deodorant has been pushed past its limit and I'm on my way to smelling like an old sock stuffed with onions. Keeping arms clamped to sides for sake of everyone else.

When I studied literature as an undergraduate, lots of my classmates would complain that the analyses we did were pointless because they read too much into the texts, noticing things that weren't really there.

Because of the release of The Odyssey, people have been playing my dumb Odyssey-themed game, 108 Suitors and it got this entirely sincere and not at all tongue in cheek review. See what all the fuss is about here: notagoth.itch.io/108-suitors

Received this from @galleybeggars.bsky.social and while my tbr is presently out of control and growing, I will get to it eventually and am currently just really enjoying the smell of it like a huge gross freak.

I'd never thought about this before, but knives are the ones that are always plentiful. Forks? No. Teaspoons? Not a chance. Always end up stirring my coffee with a wooden chip fork from a pack someone put in the shared cupboard for no obvious reason.

it’s me, aslynn

if Alanis had worked in an office environment it would have been 10,000 knives when all you need is a fork

I'm still on holiday so... pre-order Strange Talk (having a bad voice day, don't care, look up Spasmodic Dysphonia if you're wondering) www.fairlightbooks.co.uk/books/strang...
