Early voting in the Texas Primary Runoff has begun! Your vote in the runoff counts 27 x what it counts in the general election – so don't miss your chance to shape the future for all Texans. MayMatters.org crunched the numberss. Early voting is today through Friday, May 22. Election Day is May 26.

Mail-in voter? The deadline to apply for a Mail-in Ballot is this Friday, May 15 by 5 p.m.. The application must be received (not mailed) by the Hays County Elections Office by then. Mail your application in TODAY. *Take your mail to your post office to be postmarked at the counter.

The SAVE Act is unnecessary and undemocratic. Tell your representatives to vote NO on the SAVE Act.

Election officials would face criminal penalties under the SAVE Act, including imprisonment, for registering anyone without documents proving U.S. citizenship. Even if the person actual IS a US citizen. Any person or organization would also be able to sue them.

Proving citizenship would not be a "one and done" event the first time you register to vote. Every time you move or need to reregister, you would have to appear at the elections office to present your proof of citizenship in person.

The SAVE Act would mandate all 50 states turn over their voter rolls to the federal government. The Constitution delegates control over elections to the states.

Under the SAVE Act, anyone applying to vote by mail would have to appear at the county elections office in person with documents proving citizenship. Every time they apply. No exceptions for military posted overseas.

69 million women have taken their spouse's name, meaning their birth certificate won't match their current legal name so they couldn’t vote. Some 146 million Americans don't have a passport. The SAVE Act would make getting documents to exercise our crucial right to vote would get very complicated.

Every study of the issue shows attempted voter fraud is rare and those who try don't get away with it. The SAVE Act is another attempt to suppress voting.

Many Americans don't have access to documents like birth certificates and passports to prove citizenship. Proof of citizenship requirements would raise massive barriers for eligible voters–like married women, naturalized citizens, trans, minorities, and elderly voters–suppressing MILLIONS of people.

A new proposed map for redistricting Texas was released today as part of HB 4. The House will host a public hearing at 10 a.m. this Friday to take up the proposal. The proposed map would eliminate 5 congressional seats currently held by Democrats. (Currently, the GOP holds 25 of 38 seats.)
