You are not the main character in everyone else's life story, Will. There is no way to say this without being interpreted as condescending, so keep that in mind: I really do think you need to talk to a therapist, for your own mental health. You are not indicating that you are processing this well.

That's incorrect. You were asked whether a rape culture indicated a reference to a culture being rapists. You responded that was what it was intended to mean in non-academic contexts, that it was accusatory in nature, and that the accuser perhaps lacked an evidentiary basis. That's simply not true.

That's not correct. You are speaking to a direct or literal reading, and that's indicative of a deficiency in the analytical process.

You could argue that it's inflammatory, perhaps, but the word "mentality" indicates that it is not meant to convey that. There's a real problem with a lack of literary awareness evident in a lot of responses here, yours included.

That did not happen. There's an evident trend of people reading "rapist mentality" and understanding it to mean "a rapist". This is a deficiency in literacy. Those aren't imterchangeable.

I mean, this response really does make it seem like you haven't taken the time to process what that might mean in this context. You've applied a very base-level, literal analysis, but that's not the end-point of reading and understanding.

Because it's a part of life that some people just doesn't care for you, for whatever reason, and ultimately that's their preogative. Most people understand it's something to be respected well before now. I think you should talk to someone about these feelings you're having. I think that might help.

Did _any_ of them actually specify a tangible, material reason why she should have been barred from competing? No! That's why they always reach for hypotheticals, like the hypothetical NBA generational athlete transitioning - because they're trying to invoke emotional responses.

Because "nuance", like "fairness", like "legitimate concerns", _doesn't mean anything_. Like, this post is literally saying it would be inappropriate for many trans girls to participate in "female-only sports leagues". Why? Think back to every single example you've seen.

This is not isolated. This is emblematic. And frankly, if you saw me saying "she was standing in front of a wall of campaign posters" and the implication of your response is that the wallpapers were the focus and the point of my statement, then you're simply not on the level.
