A thought experiment: Orioles are 9-17 in one-run games this year. Let’s say that was flipped — 17-9. Some combination of luck, maybe slightly better defense on a given day, a change of weather or a different clubhouse playlist, a player wakes up better rested.

Any other contender could have topped this, if they wanted to.

In WPBL news, LA came back from a steep deficit to bring the game within two runs, 6-8, with 1.5 more to play. It’s pouring and the newest relief pitcher for the Queens is also an architect! It’s been a fun game, minus some excruciating in-game interviews (parity with MLB).

Imagine trading Adley but keeping Craig Albernaz.

I’m really enjoying this opening ceremony for the WPBL game; and also, the accompanying music is what I would describe as “in memoriam.”

Me, whenever I see the LA Queens logo, which is LQA: “…LaQuardia”

A League of Their Own would have me believe the 1940s rollout was similarly underwhelming (with the added factor that some of their husbands were being killed elsewhere) so, you know, baby steps

Tonight is the inaugural game for the Women’s Pro Baseball League — if you had told me as a kid this was happening I’d be… well, annoyed that it took till I was in my 30s. But I’d be ecstatic. This means so much to me.

This is a lineup that gets us a pitcher hitting at some point if things don’t go well. (It also gets the Phillies several extra triples.)

Again, it’s not outside the realm of possibility that Adley is traded at some point before the end of his contract, but I’ll believe there’s any *whit* of a chance he’ll go to the Yankees once I hear chatter from anyone other than a Yankee reporter.
