This was a JOURNEY and I'm so glad it ended with savings!

I wish more groups would do tangible stuff that improves people's lives — that hits harder than online shitposting. People remember which groups do free diapers, free breakfast for schoolkids, or benches at bus stops.

YES! I love that set-up and have seen in on workbenches maintained by men of a certain age. A few years ago, I decanted all the screws/nails from the dumb opaque plastic box they came in into some surplus jars & finding things is so much easier.

The great thing about jar-based crafternoons is that you don't have to be particularly artistic or skilled, the cost is low, and you have the satisfaction of having exercised your ability to play and experiment in a really low-stakes way. Jars! Someone in your life will have them & share.

A fun thing to do with jars NOT discussed in the article: get stickers + a big ol' jar of glass etching cream, and spend a crafternoon chatting with your friends while you turn jars into seasonal votive candle holders you can recycle later. Avoid buying seasonal crap at Target — etch w/friends.

"A face for print" took me out.

Maybe some series are best as limited runs & certainly some series need never have multiple seasons. But this one was so different, I liked the idea of seeing where they'd go in s2.

I can't remember the blog but I do recall the kerfluffle when some food blogger was all, "I just don't know why people don't roast a chicken, it's super-easy" and then people had to explain to her how office jobs and commutes worked. There's a reason Rachel Ray broke out with her 30-minute meals!
