15 hours in a car is a shitty way to spend a day.

Despite the Westjet strike disrupting my whole weekend and condemning me to two days trapped in my car in smokey, hot weather instead of flying, working for half of your day without pay is messed up. The flight attendants had every right to demand better and the bosses should pay up.

The number of kids I have contact with in any given year numbers in the hundreds, so yes, I know kids who lost parents AND teachers during the first couple of years of covid. It was devastating and life changing every single time. Whatever we did to stop covid, it wasn't enough.

Man. Whatever. Nobody is “cancelling” Hank Green. Considering all the actual criminals who still have jobs in entertainment, the guy with a million followers who runs his own media company isn’t losing his job. There was discourse about him. Which I’m sure feels bad. But that’s not the same thing.

There was 1 time I was researching something & decided to trust the AI summary. It was right there at the top of the search page. And it confirmed what I thought. And the other pages I found were either inconclusive or said the opposite. But fortunately, the summary had a link to its source (1/2)

Since I was doomed to be stuck in a car all day today, I started listening to the audiobook of Three Body Problem. So far it’s very interesting. I usually hate the “holographic universe” concept (assuming that’s what this is. Don’t tell me either way). But so far Liu Cixin has got me bought in.

WELP. I guess I'm not flying to Calgary. I don't want to get stranded there when management locks out the workers. I hope my car can make it over the mountains one more time.

This is it, exactly. There are studies that show a detrimental effect to decision making from using AI, but I guess that wouldn't be a problem if AI was giving you GOOD answers. We didn't look back on the invention of writing rewiring our brains. But written text didn't sneak lies in along the way.
