This is how we live on earth, a flock of sparrows. The darkness, a magician, finds quarters behind our ears. We don’t know what life is, who makes it, the reality is thick with longing. We put it up to our lips and drink. ~ Ilya Kaminsky, ‘Dancing in Odessa’ (2004) #Painting by Miyake Wakō.

It is true, if you’re benefitting from Disabled Adult Child benefits, you will lose them if you get married and your spouse has income. I guess the government just assumes they’ll become your caretaker, which adds all sorts of weird dynamics to what is presumably a romantic relationship.
Grant StonerHappy 36th anniversary of the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act. To this day, disabled people still can't get married, and our rights are actively being challenged over and over. True disability inclusion happens when we're equals to our able-bodied peers.
sucks that you can go to therapy, do the work, take the pills, touch grass, practice a hobby, pet a cat, etc, and still spend an entire day so miserable that you can't get out of bed. there's only so much mental scaffolding i can build out of toothpicks as a trans person in this godforsaken country.
Timely, hopeful & crucial article from @annamerlan.bsky.social. Here’s a key excerpt to carry in your heart this weekend & beyond.
Anna MerlanEvery so often I get to think of something that is not awful. I interviewed Henry freaking Rollins about his quest with Ian MacKaye and a few other schemers to revive Vengeance Records, The Cramps’ record label: www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
children's movies that talked about grief and loss were the only way i could try to understand my own feelings about my grandfather's sudden death when i was seven because my family wouldn't talk about it, nor let me talk about it or go to the funeral. films like these are VITALLY IMPORTANT.
Kasey GiffordKids need/deserve traumatic films. Films that show death or lasting consequences that aren't resolved almost instantly. Fear, anger, grief and frustration should be part of kids movies. Kids arent stupid, they feel big emotions just like adults, they deserve to see those experiences reflected back.
early on in my transition before there were any noticable changes from HRT, i explained to one of my gamer friends that being on estrogen felt like getting the right drivers installed on a gaming PC. it actually made him understand super well and he said it was a good metaphor
francis[explaining medical transitioning to a gamer] it's like having to install a mod to make the game playable,
