That's the thing that gets me about his movies,they all have such a somber tone and bleak, grandiose atmosphere but the writing is never good enough to make me care about any of it.

And predictably the whole movie is the visual equivalent of the sans serif font they use for the title card

Odyssey was fine, the monsters were cool. Seeing some of the reactions to it makes me increasingly convinced that Christopher Nolan's whole deal is making a dumb guy's idea of a smart movie

I think Troy did a pretty good job of this! The outfits aren't period accurate, but they're at least visually interesting and tell you a bit about the characters wearing them. If Nolan had gone that route I don't think anyone would be complaining

The Matrix. It was 2004, I was a child on an Internet abuzz with Matrix references and goofy Flash parodies, and my dad finally got so fed up with me and my brother quoting a movie we'd never seen that he sat the two of us down and made us watch it. Needless to say we thought it was pretty radical
