Avid watcher of championship cricket, and the preservation of Guernsey’s environment and natural beauty

Why do the media seem to have such a fixation with Reform, the Lib Dems have more MPs and dare I say it better policies but get a fraction of the coverage

Tickets purchased for next years ashes at Trent Bridge will be good to see proper cricket and not the travesty of the 💯 nor I hope bazball

Reform failing to win in Manchester was good news Farage losing in Clacton would be the icing on the cake fingers crossed

With climate change and consequential water shortage the decision not to fill Les Vardes quarry with inert waste was inspired

As I watch France burn on the news I am comforted by the words of Trump and Farage who assure me that climate change is a hoax and that man made emissions are not the cause

030

Weeding in the garden this morning I (by mistake) disturbed a bumblebee nest, despite their fluffy appearance their sting really hurts, luckily not for long, discretion being the better part of valour I decided to weed a different flower bed

I find it indefensible that Trump and Farage deny that climate change is happening and think the world should pull back from the drive to net zero. How much more evidence do they need or do they just choose not to see

Often the worst decision is no decision. Once again the States has let down the Islanders, we need certainty and we need GST. There is too much misleading scare mongering by the anti GST deputies.

000

Just watching the women’s blast finals and the commentators seen fixated on the bloody 💯 disrespectful and disingenuous

000

The people calling for an increase in tax rates instead of the introduction of GST are missing the fundamental point, Guernsey is dangerously over dependent on direct taxation and need to diversify its tax base GST is essential

010

Once again Richard Graham’s piece in today’s Press is readable, entertaining and as always incisive, it is a great pity that the other regular contributors to the Press appear incapable of following his example.

010

No tax rise is popular but GST is right for Guernsey not necessarily to raise more tax revenue but more importantly to broaden the tax base, the island is dangerously dependent on direct taxation.

000

I had hoped that following failures in two election we had seen the last of the msn in the hat, imagine my horror when I switch on utube to watch the Notts cricket he popped up protesting about GST needless to say I switched off immediately

Heat wave in England people losing their lives in wildfires in Spain yet the Reform spokesman on BBC still banging on abut exploitingUK’s oil and gas reserves, investment should be going into renewable sources of energy not pumping more greenhouse gasses into out atmosphere.

030

The National Trust of Guernsey has been advised that we are to expect two substantial bequests imminently, we are so grateful to these very generous people it will enable is to do so much more to protect the natural beauty of Guernsey

020

The tories and reform say the country cannot afford to follow “net zero” policies, looking at what is happening to our climate I would suggest we can’t afford not to

Solar panels do make sense, just had my electricity bill for the quarter ending 1/7/26 and including the standing charge my bill was minus £8.92 Not bad considering that includes charging my electric car

020

Trump calling the Iranians scum is a bit of pot calling the kettle how he can retain the support of any sane Americans is beyond me

010

Judging by the BBC news I assume England played football yesterday

000

The damage the 💯 has done to cricket was there at Trent Bridge for all to see. The superb 100 by Mitchell was peppered by the “mob” in the Fox Road stand by repeated chants of “boring boring Mitchell” while the totally irresponsible innings of Stokes and Brook were met by ecstatic applause. So sad
