Attorney, Washingtonian, etc. Pls don’t tell my firm I’m posting. I’m not your lawyer and none of what I post is legal advice.

among other things, it reads like AI

This state supreme court opinion pulls no punches: “This court does not anchor Hawaiʻi’s due process rights to the federal floor. Especially one that keeps sinking. . . . State constitutionalism makes it easy to consider Roberts Court jurisprudence ‘white noise.’”

Comply or die. The message from the White House

Aaron Rupar

Homan on people getting killed by ICE: "It comes down to one simple fact -- these people failed to comply with law enforcement ... all they had to do is comply. If they did, they'd be alive today."

Looking forward to seeing it, but always viewed Telemachus as a whiny brat til at least the lotus eaters, with Athena qua Mentes going “listen here you little shit” for that period of time. Can tom Holland do whiny little shit?

The Odyssey is pulling $260 million this weekend, well on its way to becoming the biggest movie of the year. It has a 95%/97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Everyone loves it. Please enjoy this exchange.

Okay here’s an idea. You get a municipality with a local law requiring them to accept all forms of legal tender to sue for declaratory relief in district court that these aren’t legal tender

Max Berger

Christians who claim to oppose idolatry and conservatives who claim to revere the constitution have sacrificed their sacred honor on behalf of a deeply pathetic baby-king.

Alright who has standing? Coin collectors? What about a business that’s obligated to accept all forms of legal tender?

Max Berger

Christians who claim to oppose idolatry and conservatives who claim to revere the constitution have sacrificed their sacred honor on behalf of a deeply pathetic baby-king.

Among many other problems with this approach to managing immigration, *who* decides what constitutes *assimilation* and *likelihood of assimilation*. This is a shibboleth for racism

Will Stancil

Does Professor Wurman want to delineate which of the law students he teaches are from unassimilated groups that lack the habits of mind that make constitutional government possible?

Legit question for those who know more about international law than me: could these countries just give diplomatic passports to each of the players? They are cultural ambassadors of sort, after all.

Nicholas Grossman

Uruguay's World Cup team's entry was delayed, then they were subjected to additional searching, with sniffer dogs going through their luggage on the side of a road. Thanks @darinself.com for pointing out this one.

“No no no. When I said a ‘public interest lawyer’ I meant I am a lawyer who tries to be interesting to the public in a morbid curiosity sort of way”

Milan Markovic

You should not call yourself a public interest lawyer if this is the type of representation you provide.

Should I host and DM a twice monthly DnD campaign set in Victorian England? 1. Yes 2. Dude obviously. Live your best nerdy life. 3. Sir you work in biglaw. You already have no free time. Alternative answers accepted.

I made multiple Bleak House-adjacent jokes to Oxford-training lawyers this weekend and not one of them got them. So that’s the real reason Oxford is cancelled now

Lawyer dude

Also kind of funny that these prosecutors can’t even do as well as the jokes of lawyers presented in Dickens’ Bleak House IFYKYK

I suspect like many lawyers, the more I rely on AI, the more my writing suffers. I’ve found myself having to reread briefs I wrote in our pre-AI era. Worse, our profession’s writing collectively is suffering, and I am convinced that we’ll all be writing in staccato floridity. 1/
