There is A LOT of sexism among white leftist men. Heal yourselves. Women are tired of your hypocrisy, your fake moral outrage, and your lack of willingness to do childcare, housecleaning or nursing of the disabled. Also, your lack of willingness to be helpful and charitable because "theory".

I think a small memorial on a corner where people could leave flowers would be nice. Of course, it is for his family to decide. I regret not leaving flowers for Philando Castille or George Floyd (lack of car and then later Covid). Sometimes a small memorial can help a family and community grieve.

If our elected political leaders don't work for the good of the people in this country, and only enrich themselves and only help huge global corporations, then there is a problem with our democracy. Whatever your brand of "socialism", if it is not part of a Democracy, then I'm not interested.

The most important element for me is Democracy. I believe very strongly thst people should have the right to elect their leaders at all level of government and those leaders should respond to everyone in the community and country. In an ideal democracy, people's votes would matter more big money.

It is difficult sometimes to know what a person means when they say they believe in "Democratic Socialism". I tend to think of the Nordic countries which offer a strong safety net, but are still highly competitive in cutting edge technology.

In the early 1990s, I read some fantastic research texts by Economic Sociologists (Political Economists). They discussed the many different ways in which the government and business can interact. Some governments spend a lot of money on basic scientific research, but allow industry to innovate.

At the other end of the economic spectrum, (what we call the Far Left), the government owns all aspects of the economic sector - companies, stores, etc. The problem with this is that planned completely state-run economies don't work well. It helps to have innovation and competition in the economy.

When a huge global corporation buys up a small competitor to shut them down, they damagee the free market of ideas and goods.If someone invents something awesome, but it would threaten a large corporation, they buy the product, and don't sell it. Monopolies suppress innovation and competition.

At one end of the economic spectrum (usually called the "right", but really "the corrupt business elite" ) you end up with one or two big companies who aren't regulated by a national government or even a global regulatory system. They can poison the planet, charge low wages and stop innovation.

There are many ways in which a government can regulate business. If a country owns all the businesses and there is no free market, that is "Communism". (If a company uses predatory pricing and corrupt politicians to gain unregulated market control, that is an Oligarchy - Amazon, Google, media. )

There are many varieties of what some people call "socialism". There were many activists and writers in the late 1800s who responded to the barbaric cruelty of the rising industrialists in Europe. Some were very radical, like Karl Marx. Others less radical and worked as social workers and teachers.

Karl Marx was not the only socialist. "The Communist Manifesto" is a good place to begin,but it is only a beginning.Marx was not a feminist and he wasn't an environmentalist. He didn't think much about agriculture.He was a leftist in the late 1800s writing about the "Industrial Revolution". #Leftist
