I’m reading The Language Puzzle by Steven Mithen (2024) and he has some fascinating theories. I’m also halfway through The Singing Neanderthals also by Mithen but it’s a bit older. They’re arguing they probably did have language but more concrete rather than abstract &had similar anatomy for speech

Very interesting linguistic research. #auspol bilingual speakers are more able to detect manipulative language (eg politicians, ads, etc) than monolinguals. Interesting comparing Australia (US also) to European countries AND also Indigenous Australians who are bilingual. Monolinguals are duped
