There is nothing you will say that changes the mind of anyone who believes Dr, Fauci is a criminal, or that taking the 5th implies guilt. It’s a cultural institution in that ecosystem. In fact any opinions that contradict it are repurposed to attack “the libs.” Put your energy where it counts.

I unfollowed a guy I admired from another stage of life. He stated Dr. Fauci killed millions. Current evidence: taking the 5th at the Senate hearings. I didn’t unfollow him for his opinion. I did because he sought evidence he wouldn’t have accepted in any other part of life. No respect for that.

FRIENDLY REMINDER… Getting people to change opinions and habits of belief is about untangling their EMOTIONAL CONNECTIONS, both to the beliefs themselves and the social environment that comes with them. Sometimes we put them on blast. But mostly give them a safe place to land with better info.

American exceptionalism relies on a Constitution and laws that are just and have a process that lets them evolve. It also depends on citizens who are wise and brave enough to live that creed. Much of the world now has both, and arguably braver, smarter citizens. American exceptionalism is dead.

(If you *don’t* have ownership of them you won’t be effective.)

When I was supervising graduate students doing their counseling internships, i’d always tell them to form their own opinions. It’s easy to buy in to the biases of others. And they’re often right. But you have ownership of them, you won’t be effective. Yes, that’s true for all of us.

When LaGuardia Airport is uncrowded in the morning near the conference area…and the coffee place workers see stuff they don’t usually see. 😆😎😜
