The other part here is publishers can sell the books and not worry about this backlash. They don’t want the responsibility that, say, magazines and newspapers get when an errors occurs.

Fact-checking is an amazing skill and you need to pay for it and it should be paid for but, yeah, it’s expensive. But I’d want a fact-checker on my book and know writers who pay out of pocket for their own sake— they usually come from the magazine world and aren’t big hitters.

My daughter consoled me. Reading it out to kids is really, really hard.

It broke me as a reader and a viewer. Tears streaming down my face.

Tried to read Mark Hoppus’ memoir when it came out and couldn’t. It brought me no joy. Then I thought: maybe he reads the audio book and, yes, he does and it’s really bad. (Here I am two hours-plus I’m hoping it gets better at 1.25 speed.)

Something I appreciated about my parents was they rarely, if ever, said no to music or got upset about it. They really let me explore my own tastes. More parents should let kids have their own taste.
