Based on industry predictions, I'll be in the small percentage of people who won't have a personal AI agent working on their behalf.

I'm starting to think the reason I don't post more positive stuff online is because most of my positive experiences happen offline.

I understand why some people want this for enterprise software, which tends to be a soulless expression of moving bits and bytes around, but I hope there will be room for software where only human creativity and emotional intelligence can bring it to life.

I know some people are working really hard to take humans out of the software development loop, but I hope that day never comes.

"I don't want to use software which has slop in it. I do what I can to avoid it, and sadly even Vim now comes under scrutiny in that effort as both Vim and NeoVim are relying on LLMs to develop the software." - A Eulogy For Vim drewdevault.com/blog/Forking...

"It's unacceptable that Chinese open source AI models may have been built on IP theft". They are so close. Now do OpenAI and Anthropic next.

AI isn't a fad. Talking about AI all the time is.

If I wasn't retired, I'd be going deep on LLMs to avoid getting fired, and remain marketable. However, I wouldn't allow an LLM to do work for me without eventually learning how to do it too. I'd use an LLM as a tool, not a replacement. I'd also start contributing to an open weight model as a hedge.

This stage of the AI push reminds me of peak cryptocurrency, which was supposed to change everything. I was never afraid of blockchain the technology, I was afraid of the people behind it, and their vision for the future.

You won't find me comparing Al models or GPU performance. When I talk Al, I'm talking about the power dynamic between those in power, and the average person. I choose to focus on the drawbacks of Al while highlighting the potential of humanity.

AI is a trojan horse. Accept the gift with caution.

I got this award from my daughter when she was in elementary school. One of my greatest achievements ever.

I talk to a lot of startups building security tools for AI agents, and my advice to all of them is, treat AI agents like malware. Even if agents provide a lot of value to those who use them, agents are a security nightmare to those who have to secure them.

I'm out here just doing side missions at this point.

I met Larry Fitzgerald two years ago when he started his venture fund. I've been serving as the firm's Technical Advisor doing technical due diligence ever since. Yesterday, I got to spend the day with him at the World Cup, and reflect on how retirement is just the beginning.
