Really curious as to whether the automod will put this behind an “adult” tag or whatever

As an aside, FINE, this means I need to start going on walks to improve my cardiovascular fitness. In fact, I went on two short walks today. And I know that’s probably gonna help me feel better mentally, which is gonna piss me off 😂

We have a tiny chirper, one whose vocal range spans the entirety of cat mews and yowls, and one who barely coughs out a mostly-silent meow except once a year when we turn the heater on for the first time, which is when there are banshee wails. You may or may not be surprised which is which.

With the sudden added stress of trying to help our friends find a soft landing, I’m not going to be able to donate plasma to make up our shortfall. Still in need of $165 for groceries to see us through the next week. A MA request for our friends will follow once we figure out their exact need.

I mean, I also share joyful stuff, as do lots of us, but I appreciate the sincerity here in “Holy shit, everything is awful and I’m struggling” that does seem to be taboo on some other sites.

So yeah, which fellow Lawrencians know of how to get help for our neighbors? It’s a widow, her adult son, and his insulin-dependent diabetic girlfriend. They can’t make it on the street.

My heart’s breaking for our neighbors/friends. They’re losing everything at once, and we can’t really help beyond giving them a night or two to figure out next steps. They scammed a widow who lost her job. Fucking monsters.

We haven’t gotten our MA need met, but we’re about to pivot to see if we can get some help for our friends. She lost her husband about a year ago, they just had to surrender all their cats, and they’re about to wind up in a shelter. We can only take the three people in for one, MAYBE two nights.

Between this and their atrocious handling of trans students and faculty, my alma mater is sorely disappointing me. Bad job, KU.
