Hear bloody hear

Sad to see Bill Oddie has died. I loved the Goodies as a child and Bill was, at the time, my favourite (no doubt at least in part because he looked like my Dad). As I grew up, I came to appreciate the brilliance of Graeme Garden & Tim Brooke Taylor too, but he’ll always be my childhood favourite.

Had a weird night of dreams, most of which were about me being lost and going the wrong way. Little bit on the nose, there, Mr Subconscious.

Went to The Bubbling Toad in Vogrie Country Park (by Gorebridge) today for a potions class with nieces and nephews and it was just brilliant. Place looks amazing and staff were wonderful. Properly magical. Highly recommend. (Not an ad, I just genuinely thought it is so good other people should go).

If this series of posts is genuinely from a month ago (I don’t trust anything on the internet anymore, hence proviso) then it’s both brilliant, hilarious and supremely prescient.

This made me laugh to the point of crying. I know it’s stupid but I don’t care.

Applied for a part time job on Tuesday. Decided to try Chat GPT for the personal statement. Hated what it wrote so ditched it altogether & wrote my own. Got knock back for the job today. Maybe should have stuck with Chat GPT since that was also, presumably, who assessed my application. Sigh.

It’s both sobering and oddly hopeful to think back to how much safer, calmer and more optimistic the world felt when Barack Obama was the President. A leader with dignity, compassion, charisma, intelligence - whip smart, generous and visibly a healthy man in his prime. #ObamaAppreciationDay

My instinctive response to the Kennedy Centre thing is to hope that, the moment it’s out of his hands and back in the control of sane people, there is a huge influx of top flight performers and events there, just to make it crystal clear that the only problem there ever was, was him.

Basically the conversation I’ve just had with my Mum. I can only desperately hope that maybe, just maybe, Labour might look at the USA and realise that lurching further to the right to try to compete with the hard right just makes the whole country fall apart.

Please remember to vote tomorrow. Voter apathy and low turnout is the most dangerous thing in the era we’re slogging our way through. We are so lucky to have the right to vote without the danger people in other countries face. Don’t take it for granted. Vote.

Love this. God, I wish we were in a world and a time where someone grown up and classy was in charge again.

Thinking of my Jewish friends who must be feeling such fear after the latest anti-Semitic attacks in London. Nothing justifies it and it is horrific that people are facing violence just for existing while part of a particular racial, ethnic or religious group.

Living in a timeline where the most PLAUSIBLE explanation is that the US President faked an assassination attempt in order to shore up his own failing regime while at the same time avoid having a few jokes made at his expense is really bloody tiring.
