Had a fascinating convo on TikTok tonight. Started with some white conservatives fearmongering about Muslims and asking how anyone could support democratic socialism. Ended with them all talking about their experiences growing up on food stamps and saying money needed to be redistributed to schools.
Most journalists are skeptical of official culpability at first but pounce like gleeful wolves once someone tells them it’s okay to do so. Scientists can also be guilty of the former but are used to falsifying hypotheses, and once this one turned up empty they largely moved on. Is my take.
Surplus CornbreadIt's interesting how the media immediately went to "lab leak is crank" while scientists largely started with "damn, could be true." And those positions completely flipped. Of course the scientists flipped for good reasons. The journalists, not so much.
