This is the end of the era for the Company and for me personally. I'm probably quite unusual in having had the same manager for almost 15 years, but I've never stopped learning from her. I'll miss her guidance and support hugely.

Alex and James have done a great job here in articulating the conflicting issues we face with the dreaded Impact Factor. We all know it’s a highly flawed metric for so many reasons, but its influence is so pervasive across the research ecosystem that it’s hard to completely ignore it.

Over the past year, @biologyopen.bsky.social has expanded its Fast & Fair initiative to accelerate peer review. The results are impressive - take a look at their latest preprint to find out more: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

"Why is publishing so expensive?" It's a question I hear all the time, so we at @biologists.bsky.social thought we'd try to dispel some of the myths around publishing economics & provide transparency around our costs. Very saddened to hear of John Gurdon’s passing. I’ve been lucky enough to interact with him at multiple points through my career - from undergrad lectures, through his position as former Chair of @biologists.bsky.social’s Board of Directors, and as an author at @dev-journal.bsky.social.
