I wrote a book, LESSONS FROM THE CLIMATE ANXIETY COUNSELING BOOTH: HOW TO LIVE WITH CARE AND PURPOSE IN AN ENDANGERED WORLD. Let me know if you think you could use it for something.

Gotcha. That's out of reach for my folks, as they need the $ to pay for my dad's care (& weren't DIY people even at the height of their powers). A family friend & mensch built them a ramp for the cost of materials. I think we're just talking different situations & I appreciate your response!

I would be so interested in a breakdown of the costs, whether you were able to tap into any state funds, incentives, etc. for this kind of adaptation, & whether anyone has said anything to you about these adaptations increasing the salability or value of the house. Asking for my parents!

- Growing food at scale also has climate impacts (@waiterich.bsky.social is your guy for this) that can be corrected for but it's easier to do so when A) you're not starving & 2) supply chains aren't fucked - Things interact & knowing the nature of the interactions helps you find intervention points

- The wars referenced here aren't "because of" climate change. But they do have roots in the fossil fuel industry--its profits & control-- *and*, like all wars, they have climate & environmental impacts (burning jet fuel, poisoned soil & water...)

I think it is valuable when people show how they changed their understanding so I'm listing a few of the things that did that for me on this topic

Ooh, cool, thank you for this! @courtniewolfgang.bsky.social also suggested I talk with you about possibly archiving a digital version of the riso-printed anthology she's going to help my students make, so if that appeals to you at all, I'm at kate_schapira @ brown . edu

This looks cool, not exactly what I'm looking for for this class but will keep in mind for the future!

I invented a whole holiday just for this bsky.app/profile/kate...

It's Don't Argue Inside Your Head With Other People Friday. Today, if you find yourself arguing inside your head with someone who's not present, or who it's not safe or not fair for you to argue with, gently move your mind away. Do this as many times as you need.

Resistance to extraction continues--check out this conversation w/ @mskellymhayes.bsky.social, Joseph White Eyes & Krystal Two Bulls about data center attempts on Native lands organizingmythoughts.org/you-cant-dri...

You Can’t Drink Data: Native Communities Are Resisting the AI Death Cycle“These are tools to extract from who we are to erase us,” says organizer Krystal Two Bulls.organizingmythoughts.org

Now that I'm thinking of it, one kid & I talked about this at the climate booth too: which pollutes less, a gas car or an electric car? I drew some little diagrams & pointed toward @triofrancos.bsky.social 's work on reclaiming metal instead of destroying places thru mining bsky.app/profile/did:...

This was really nice. Ended up talking a lot with the youth themselves about everything from AI use to replanting the yard to how to show you're listening

Rebuilding the city to be more just includes relying less on relationships with genocidal governments or companies. We can get by without it. Fight for more housing at more reasonable prices, fight to sunset fossil fuel infrastructure & permit cleaner energy--& fight for this too.
