Is there a polite way to tell someone, "it's not cute or fashionable to be socially clueless in this political climate"?

There's a lot of, "This is the darkest timeline" and "This is the dumbest timeline" falling out of countless mouths. The problem is, this is the only timeline we've got. We're stuck here. We have to fix this, here and now, because it is the only reality we will ever touch.

It's weird to have thoughts like, "for the good of our nation, I really hope something awful happens to Lindsey Graham's sister." But here we are.
