I think most people are interpreting this as "look how political CBS News management is", when for me it's "look how incompetent they are." These are people who are supposed to be running a major news source, and they get their info from conspiracy addled sources.

This is exactly what I run into with conspiracy theorists — a stray, unverified claim gets treated as if it debunks the real story, and it almost always falls apart under scrutiny. Wild to hear that pattern showing up at 60 Minutes as Cecilia Vega describes it.
