Just to be clear you're talking about the Restore on 10.9% right? I took a double take there. 🤣

Especially as 55% of the 2024 vote wasn't for Farage, the only candidates other than Binface and Farage running are ones that are only going to take votes away from Farage - your bast bet probably isn't sending messages that make any voter who wants rid if Farage to go "AH! No there's an idea..."

Hypothetical polls have limits (e.g. King Charles’s 2022 surge vs old polls). But using the same fieldwork where MiC had Reform 6% ahead, the data proves a vast tier of voters who won’t support current Labour would move for Burnham. Even discounting the exact figures, it helps.

How did they actually model notional incumbent numbers given the change in electoral system?

I think really it's just another nostalgia fetish - same as boomers always bore a grudge against the EU because it wasn't a thing when they were kids and you get these weirdos boycotting cafes that don't take cash - to them internal oil what makes cars move and you burn coal for electricity.

Used to feel sorry for GCSE Geography students from different regions because it's such a long drive for them to get to Castleton for fieldwork. Then I realised you dont actually have to use Castleton and there are actually numerous alternatives for those that don't live in the southern Pennines.

The practice was to change them every 15 years or so when a note received a redesign to keep ahead of counterfeiters. Charles Dickens was replaced by Darwin who was replaced by Jane Austin on the tenner. Where they always planning to lose their shit when the time came for a new portrait anyway?

I am still yet to experience anything so consistently satisfying as walking to some vantage point in or around the Peak District and watching darkness descend on Greater Manchester.

I think the closest thing is that spreadsheet you can download from the parliament.uk website which has a tab for every GE back to 1918. But I guess you mean this is an even better resource than that?

UK ParliamentParliament is made up of the House of Commons and House of Lords. It is responsible for making laws, deciding taxes and scrutinising the Government.parliament.uk

I often think that if these pies have been cooked recently (ie within the last few minutes) - poking your finger inside them is incredibly irresponsible because you risk burning your finger. Most pie fillings contain a lot of water, so will retain heat for a while even after coming out of the oven.

Just find a bus shelter anywhere in the UK with old chips strewn over the floor and the polystyrene box upturned on the metal bench. Stare at it blankly with your hands on your hips and say "people in government just don't understand places like this do they?" Get 200,000 views on YouTube.

Doing Arsenal a solid there...

I like the ones where they ask people how much money they'd be prepared to pay to be a tiger for a day and so on. And so you get headlines like "On average, people in the UK would pay £900 to meet a Woolly Mammoth"

I thought they were trying to emulate all of those milestone liberalisations in the 1960s? Murder Act 1965, Sexual Offences Act 1967 and Abortion Act 1967 were all PMBs. What's different now do you reckon?

Conterfactual history I know - but I don't actually think we'd all be speaking German anyway even had Hitler won the war. The French were very much still speaking French in the summer of 1945.

Mine is even more clichéd I'm afraid. This bloke in 2016 gave me a lengthy anecdote about the NHS mishandling his hernia operation in order to contextualise his decision to vote Leave.

I'm one of these that just goes "why can't theses weirdos have had this on a Thursday?"

Sorry for being a pedant here - but there isn't a deposit for local authority nominations. I know what you mean though.

And Waterstones means by extension Blackwell's too. 😢 😭

Hey depths of Wikipedia! I was a fan of yours on Twitter years ago and it's only on seeing this that I'm away you're on here now. I'm so happy to be able to read your posts again and keep up the good work!
