It cloaks its arguments in abstractions about "big pharma" and "free speech" to generate *the exact op-ed The Atlantic keeps publishing*. Movements like this need to be fought, not placated.
As the piece admits, the second MAHA took power it started gutting basic science, promoting quack treatments and loosening health regulations. *This* is what the movement is. Yet it's up to critics not to conclude or predict anything from these actions and bend over backward to find common cause.

And I see this over and over in coverage of MAHA: a conflation of rank-and-file citizens drawn into MAHA out of their distrust of public health and conventional medicine with the outright malice and grift of the MAHA leaders like RFK Jr., Jay Bhattacharya, and Marty Makary. They're not the same.
