Spiders trigger my lizard brain, but I've really developed an affection for phidippus. They are very attentive and personable.

I disturbed so many wolf spider baby mamas today with my weeding. I feel horrible seeing them scurry off with their kid-sacks. I'm glad the yard is teeming with critters - that was the intent...little oasis for everyone.

I bet a neighbor got a tin of Mantids for their garden. These look like the European variety. If they have a stripey face, look at them disapprovingly as they might be the Chinese variety are considered invasive. I think they are all cool.

My Butterfly Weed is blooming HUGE this year, my Joe Pye is exploding - but Swamp Milkweed is fairly unhappy and my Ironweed is downright miserable. It's been a terrible plant summer.
