2/ vax uptake at all, or --?

Ah. I'm curious about what you would like to see them do instead, with regard to reporting on the UK's decline in vax uptake. I found the piece informative; do you feel they misrepresented the issues and solutions they presented (I'm not there), or that they should refrain from reporting on...

4/ where it's coming from. ("Sources...have not been identified or tied to Taylor Farms.") So much for RFK saying they've done an A-1 job with tracking it. 🔹️"The true number of sick people in the multistate outbreak is probably higher than the number reported, and the outbreak may not be...

3/ marks a significant widening of the outbreak." Yup. 🔹️[Note also that, per the two deaths, both last night's national news & the WaPo now say the patients' underlying health conditions "may have" been affected by their infection. Cf my 🧵 yesterday about messaging.] 🔹️& they still don't know...

2/🔹️Missouri patients interviewed by PH officials "reported consuming Taco Bell before getting sick." 🔹️[Note: Taco Bell did its recall on 7/17. The incubation period for cyclosporiasis is generally 2 days - 2 weeks. So new cases should have started dropping precipitously by 7/31.] "The expansion

Yes, I posted the gift link below the original, yesterday.

Please elaborate: What in this reporting do you believe to be horsesh*t, and why?

7/ in those PH announcements vs. in the papers that will eventually be written in order to contribute to knowledge of risk factors for negative cyclosporiasis outcomes. Could the info. be deanonymized if the families talk? Yes (esp. as there are only two), but if they do, then it already has been.

6/ serves no true informative purpose; it simply reassures (and so, gets folks back into restaurants). If messengers actually wanted to inform (more than they want to persuade), there's no great reason not to name contributing factors - if it's anonymized, I see no greater disclosure violations...

5/ early pandemic response, the US gov. kept saying the same thing, & then it turned out that the list of pre-existing health conditions it had compiled included many ridiculous and completely irrelevant items?) To me, this looks like more of the same approach, b/c the qualifier on these 2 deaths

4/ for long, drawn-out risk reduction efforts, which cause both stress (bad for people & for elected officials who need people satisfied) & economic harm. 4. Saying "sig. underlying health conditions" provides no useful risk reduction info; it only makes folks think "not me." (Remember when, during

2/ any supporting evidence or expert information. And often, the takes I see are either wrong, or right for the wrong reasons. So I do make considerable efforts to explain stuff. 3. The bottom line here is exactly what it was during the covid response: neither the public nor the gov. has patience

I just wrote you a long reply and lost it. Damnit. More briefly: 1. Thank you - I'm glad, because I often feel like I'm throwing them down a well. 2. It also frustrates me that most people here fundamentally seem to use the platform as MAGA uses X: to say "this is what you should think" without...

I think that's very sensible. What's the backlash to it like?
