Also the worst road rage *by far* that I’ve seen in London has been intra-cyclist….

Lost count of the number of times I had to yank the pushchair out of the way of cyclists when my kids were small.

And not going to do much about the wildfires up North…

I have a photo of one of my cats doing this the day before she died. All her strength was gone, but she still had enough to knock some food off my plate onto her plate.

And on @poisonchallis.bsky.social point on the active role of the Gods: I worked on a production of the TROADES and the director brilliantly portrayed them as toddlers playing on the beach and arguing over their game of soldiers. They were on the fore-stage throughout.

It’s official: starting today you can enjoy unlimited bus and tram journeys every weekend for the price of a single daily journey.

Also the evidence that listening to music and going to theatre are good for mental health and therefore potentially reduce the burden on the health and care services is not without serious data. In short - it’s some way from a zero-sum affair.

And (speaking as one of the beneficiaries): subsidising ‘opera tickets’ ultimately pays the wages of singers, players , designers, stage management, front of house &c - and also leads to people eating out beforehand, drinking out afterwards and using taxis.

How we sift evidence; analyse how narratives are constructed; and attempt to understand how those narratives imprint themselves on the next generation and in turn become evidence themselves. Sending all the best to you, colleagues and students.

The naysayers keep talking London down, but we’ll stick to the facts. Met data shows neighbourhood crime is down 14%, with 35,000 fewer offences and 13,000 fewer phone thefts in the last year alone. The evidence is clear: London is safe for all to enjoy this summer.
