Tokyo and Osaka feel bottomless, cities you can endlessly explore Once you get a head for the transit system, you'll constantly discover new places and enjoy familiar haunts. Kyoto is more "one note" in comparison.

If you go to Kyoto and mobility isn't an issue, get away from the station area as quick as you can to escape the crowds. Temples that are a 40+ minute hike away are waaaay less busy and frustrating and most tourists get stuck in the vortex of the city center.

Kyoto is one of those places you should visit if you can, but also feels like a spot that you can do once, have that experience, and not feel a deep need to go back.

A friend of mine called Kyoto AFT- "Another Fuckin' Temple" Beautiful city, but high traffic tourist spots near the train station are a crush. To get actual serenity you need to trek further. Even then, once you've seen 4-5 temples back-to-back, their majesty starts to weaken as your feet ache.

Day and a half in LA after San Diego and now I'm heading to Indianapolis for Gen Con. The two biggest conventions of the summer back-to-back. I'm excited, but coffee is required as I shamble through the airport. Can't wait to see @stacyking.com!

Final subject was Lego exclusives at SDCC before one of them finally made it to their stop and had to go. A yawning abyss of blessed silence has overtaken the train car.

I am sort of amazed that they haven't talked about anime yet. I swear they've covered everything else.

"I'm just not into stuff anymore" says the guy who was just at SDCC and is endlessly talking about every movie, TV, game and toy thing imaginable.

The death-laden glances between other passengers trying to rest after Comic-Con is comedy gold. If there was a set of lockers on this train car, I think people would happily team up to stuff these dudes into them.

Two guys behind me on this train ride have loudly discussed: 🔸Pokemon card game combos 🔸The problem with multiverses and spoiling Doomsday plot points 🔸Which movie Batman would win in a fight 🔸The Hulk not kicking enough ass in the MCU 🔸Emperor Palpatine should not have come back in Star Wars 9

SDCC had one more surprise for me. Waiting for my train to LA, I strike up conversation with the guy behind me in line- -And find out he's Harry Belden, the new Morty voice actor from Rick and Morty! He told me he's signed lots of Rick and Morty VS Dungeons & Dragons comics since he got the gig.

And, in the most kismet-worthy way, out on the street far from the con center, the last friends I see are Jackson + Collin, my dear friends and newly announced writers of the official D&D comics! Perfect.

Did one last spin through #SDCC for farewells before I head to LA for a couple days before Indianapolis. So, so thankful for all these experiences. I really felt the love this year.
