FTR, I live under very primitive conditions ~ 130 year old adobe, 900 sq. ft., unvented gas wall heater, wood stove, gas stove in kitchen, gas water heater. Electric used for lighting, one small heater, fridge, computers, amps, & silly gadgets. No AC. No nothing, really. Don't feel bad.

Be advised it’s just a little house and only me and the water heater + space heaters (with one exception) are gas, so we’re talking lighting, computers, guitar amps, and assorted gadgets. BUT STILL! The power is cheap, hasn't gotten more expensive, and comes from sunlight *right here*....

ELECTRIC BILL UPDATE: Where I live in NM, Kit Carson Electric Cooperative has been 100% daytime solar powered since 2022. No AC needed at 7,000 ft. Electric heater under my desk in winter (+lights on longer). Just checked the highs & lows over the last 4 years: flat at $80 in Jan., $40 in July.
