Went to the Memorial Bridge equestrian sculptures today and it’s not a reflecting pool situation, the work was done by top notch craftspeople from The Gilders’ Studio and you can faintly see the gold leaf squares in the last pic. You can hate the expenditure and aesthetic, but it’s the real deal.
Having been there, I have to admit: it's an impressively massive hole in the ground that's difficult to wrap your head around when you see it. Will also almost be a shame when they move back to Centre Block, the "temporary" Commons chamber in West Block is stunning.
Maybe it’s Perambulations’ old-fashioned rigour, an antidote to the age of Instagram, or a “wider rehabilitation of ideas about architecture” in the decades after the Second World War. Regardless, Britain’s post-war architecture is having a moment. @economist.com
