Editing is a lifelong process of learning. For instance, in today's fiction copyedit, I just had to look up the words "crustache" and "lowkenuinely." Am I out of touch? No, it's the children who are wrong... #amediting

I'm so excited for my upcoming NarraScope talk with Marissa Koors @criticalkitten.bsky.social. It articulates a lot of my thoughts about the role of editors in game dev and the benefits of fostering an "editorial culture" in the industry. narrascope.org/schedule/#we...

My site (jesshaskins.com, which also hosts the NYCIG and GEN pages) has been down for the past three days because of Meta's AI crawler overloading my allotted Cloudflare worker requests. Found and turned on the blocker, hopefully it'll be back up when my quota resets tomorrow. Ain't AI grand?

When I was editing Titanium Court, I scrambled to reach an ending before being spoiled by reading certain parts in the spreadsheet. Since I can never play again, for reasons (big spoilers: kotaku.com/i-love-titan... ), it's so nice to see others enjoying it now that it's out!

Today’s lucky street find—this lovely wooden desk to upgrade my workspace! I’d pretty much forsworn my desk for the kitchen table lately, but with the refresh I think I’ll use it more.

Project by a former student. We already dig ghost tours, puzzle hunts, and self-guided city walking tours, so we were all over this.

Got to playtest a really cool “puzzle adventure walk” today in Greenwich Village. Learned about history and solved puzzles framed in a fun ghost story!

I enjoyed the last of these periodic virtual workshops on storytelling, and I'm really looking forward to this next one on 4/18. A bunch of narrative folks get together to explore the questions “How does agency affect narrative?” and “How can we get past conflict as the central narrative driver?”
