I do words for the likes of PC Gamer, Edge and Eurogamer, and consult for games studios. Developers and publishers: if you're looking for a seasoned mock reviewer, let's talk!

The half-size blue bins (cardboard recycling) on our estate are finally getting full-size replacements and it’s honestly my most hotly anticipated release this year

Tonight I’m watching Minority Report, which combines Greek tragedy with the most inspired and absurd failing-forward action you can imagine. A man escapes the cops by falling inside a Lexus during assembly at the Lexus factory and proceeding to drive away in it. Indiana Jones would simply applaud.

Checked to make sure they'd hit the most important train game of all, and they have.

My on-off Doctor Who rewatch has arrived at ‘The Girl in the Fireplace’, and what an extraordinary self-contained story it is. Has a powerful grasp on what time creates - yearning, disappointment, final fulfilment - and what it destroys.

For IGN: “Sharma echoes Elon Musk, whose typical approach is to yank wires out of the machine, and discover afterwards whether any of them were essential.” www.ign.com/articles/xbo...

One year I'll finally have enough spare income kicking around to get to Develop and see my peers. This time I'll settle for hearing that someone said a nice thing *about* me while they were there.

This is excellent news. Deceive Inc is the most creative and bold of the extraction games I've played - essentially Hitman in multiplayer - and I was worried it would vanish. Glad to see @morganpark.bsky.social still championing it too. www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/cl...

Genuinely love that Time Extension leads with Gex, rather than COD or Dead Space, when recounting Schofield’s gameography. It’s important that a media outlet knows itself and its audience, and few do that better than TE.

For PC Gamer, I wrote about Remedy’s forgotten FPS campaigns: “It's a lot like being in Max Payne's nightmares—if Max was busy reciting the subtext out loud.” www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/cr...

Crossfire is actually the second singleplayer shooter named after Korea’s Counter-Strike—and the last one was made by RemedyBut you might struggle to stay A Wake for it.www.pcgamer.com
