feminist law professor. regulation of pregnancy, gender and sports, relational feminist theory, ecofeminism.

This decision arguably misreads Calder, ignores the special weirdness of PJ for defamation, and ignores Ford Motor's revision of Bristol-Myers Squib. The defendant's brief egregiously misrepresents Ford. I could defend this outcome, but it isn't some kind of self-own by Patel's lawyers.

My spouse was good friends w/ our older neighbor whose grandfather, the town baker, built our house. Our neighbor described the most expensive neighborhood in town as "where the rich professors lived" when he was growing up. Today, entry-level *law* faculty have trouble even living in town.

I really hope someone checks my math and memory of public university starting salaries. The idea that inflation adjusted numbers reflect starting assistant professors making 20% less now than they did 25 years ago is….. whew.

I'm reading the "environmentalists are wrong about data centers" piece from the NYT and ohmygoditssofuckingbad. Apparently, so long as you're punching left, they'll just let you say any goddamn thing you please... www.nytimes.com/2026/07/25/o...

Obviously, this isn't the only contributor, but making up stupid, Orwellian jargon like "safety signal" when you mean "danger sign" is not helping here. thebaffler.com/latest/there...

"Even Senator Moreno, whose daughter is alleging the abuse by Miller, has been largely silent about the situation." What an unbelievable piece of shit.

There's a trend to ridicule enviro criticisms of AI slop because each query uses "only" x amount of water, etc. These are the same people who told you that *your* deodorant *this morning* wasn't putting a hole in the atmosphere. And *one cigarette* after dinner *tonight* won't give you cancer.

I was a plaintiff's lawyer in the only state that does *not* have employment at will. But damages for wrongful discharge were pretty limited, so we always told potential clients, "Let's wait 6 months and see what you find." Unless it was a woman over 40. Then we just went ahead and filed.

I am 53 and have been essentially forced into retirement. I thought it was just me, until I found an entire community of women in the same situation on Instagram. So many of us have just been told that we simply have nothing to contribute to society anymore.

No. No. No. Every case is a "regular case." Being a lawyer for the government is the exact opposite of an excuse for incompetence and abuse of subpoena power.

Judge Subramanian: If these were a regular case I would issue an Order to Show Cause why sanctions should not issue. Why not here? Buckley: Look at footnote 5 Judge: That wasn't sufficient. I am giving you the opportunity to meet it more fully Buckley: Never again

There are multiple weird things in this story, but query: If the question is, "According to Article 3 of the U.S. Constitution, in which cases do the federal courts have jurisdiction? ... List at least four for full credit.” Is "Parties of state and citizens of another state" a correct answer?

This story is crazy. It would appear Trump admin officials rigged their nationally televised high school civics contest to keep a young man from a Sikh family out of the finalists. www.notus.org/national/ame...

It's fun watching Dems pretend there isn't a long tradition of replacing dead congress-critters with their closest harmless-seeming female relatives and also watching Repubs pretend there isn't a long tradition of those women turning out to have ideas and ambitions of their own.

There's a bus route from Denver to Estes Park, summer weekends only, stopping in Boulder and other towns. Except the Boulder stop is cancelled for all of Memorial Day wknd and for an entire wknd in Sept b/c on one morning, the bus would have to go to a different stop to avoid a race route.
