NYC taxpayers will spread the cost of groceries to help people who otherwise couldn't afford them to sustain themselves? Sounds great! Let's do more of that

USA TODAY Opinion

Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.

Northern Ireland gets 9 weeks, which as a child is glorious Despite living in England for years, I'm still always surprised and mildly horrified to see kids going to and from school in mid-July

Fun graph by the EU Commission on the length of summer holidays in the EU. To be frank, as a parent, even the six weeks in Germany feel long. How are parents supposed to bridge 14 weeks of summer holiday?

Fun to see - given how much US commentators big up the peaceful transfer of power on inauguration day - the BBC talking about the orderly, peaceful change of a Prime Minister and using the US as the prime example of what it's *not* like

The questioning here is so vapid, and they react to the idea of a public health approach to drugs like he's coming out with some mad shit that should barely be entertained Prohibition doesn't stop people taking drugs, it just fuels crime and drives people to more risky behaviours. We can do better!

Farrukh

Ranvir Singh, "Are you still as a party in favour of legalising drugs, and how would that benefit society?" Zack Polanski, "Yes we are. The war on drugs is failing. It's pushing people with addiction to drugs into back alleys, that's fuelling gangs able to sell these drugs"

The eventual outcome of a Tory PM supporting gender self-ID in 2017 is a Labour government in 2026 enthusiastically presiding over the introduction of the most transphobic legal framework in the western world - without any debate or vote in Parliament For Labour, a moral stain worse than Section 28

Nadia Whittome MP

Despite more than 1 in 4 MPs signing my motion against the Code, it is due to come into force without any debate or vote in Parliament. I have written to the Minister for Women and Equalities urging her to withdraw it now. 2/2

Nice of all the news channels to give Farage a free extended party political broadcast

rare W for the US legal system

The Court of Chancery just issued an order to show cause why an entire law firm (RLF, a VERY prestigious Delaware firm) shouldn't be sanctioned for filing a brief with fake AI-generated cites. The Court is holding both the partner who signed the brief and the entire firm responsible.
