I love how some guys are so full of themselves that they think them threatening to leave will make everyone so upset that they will get their way.

I agree. I think the reason the term is being used (misused) is for the same reason that ‘homeland’ was used after 9/11. Both words imply extreme situations that feed peoples’ fears.

The dept I worked for wouldn’t allow me to edit the content, only to edit for format. Some of this was snobbery. No one who wasn’t in their field could possibly be capable of editing the work of a scholar from that field.

Judging by my experience as an editor of research papers, textbook study guides, & scholarly works, authors’ work was often completely unreadable. Grad school profs didn’t care if students’ work was readable, only abt getting it published quickly. When those people graduated their writing was BAD.+

? How did the U.S. House have any say in what Spain does with a territory in Africa? (I suspect they don’t .) Why is this the 1st I’ve seen about this being the background of what happened there?

Or only allowing you to talk to someone without ability to help you w. a problem you’re having. Then they wonder why they have such high turnover in those jobs, when the poor service person gets yelled at constantly by frustrated customers. Or berated by supervisors not wanting problems referred.

Girls needed more education. She resented having to clean, care for other families’ kids, was determined never to have to work again. Didn’t want grandpa to be a pastor, which he had studied to be, because he wouldn’t make enough money. So he worked @ post office. Taught Sunday school his whole life

Yes. One grandma had 7 kids, lived on a farm. I recall my dad said she made 3 or 4 loaves of bread every other day. Other grandma had only 1 child, my mom, never worked. Mother said grandma had to work for other families after 8th grade to help pay for her brothers to go to h.s. Her dad didn’t think
