Psychologist/author deconstructing behavioral/psychiatric genetic research and theories. Author of "Schizophrenia and Genetics: The End of An Illusion" (2023). https://jayjoseph22.substack.com/

As I showed in a recent post, there are no "crime genes" or even evidence of a genetic predisposition to criminal behavior. The purported research findings are a house of cards. jayjoseph22.substack.com/p/genetic-st...

The Dutch government once gave medals to people who perpetrated aggression and violence in its colonial wars in Indonesia. The powerful reward “aggression” when it serves their interests, and blame it on faulty genes when it doesn’t. jayjoseph22.substack.com/p/genetic-st...

Theoretically, of all types of human behavior, vegetarianism is the least likely to be “genetic.” The slow-motion behavioral GWAS train wreck.

pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37792698/ Genetics of vegetarianism: A genome-wide association study I was discussing this study with someone recently and couldn’t find a link, so I did a little AI search to find it and maybe it’s worth discussing AI in this context, and how it can reinforce ideology.

The researchers could have added: "We realize that these studies' comparisons of identical (MZ) vs. fraternal (DZ) twins depend on the assumption that both twin types grow up experiencing 'equal environments.' Because this assumption is untrue, our findings should be treated with extreme caution."

Johnny Photon

"Researchers looked at 50 years of twin studies covering more than 14.5 million twin pairs across 17,804 separate traits. The grand average for heritability across all human traits came out to exactly 49% genetic (nature) and 51% environmental (nurture)."

The claims about schizophrenia gene discoveries in this book are false. Nice Hollywood-type story that sells books and potential movie rights, but the claimed gene discoveries were actually non-discoveries (false positives). jayjoseph22.substack.com/p/hidden-val...

Now reading the increible but heartbreaking HIDDEN VALLEY ROAD, nonfiction about a family with 12 kids, half of them diagnosed with schizophrenia.

My 2022 negative review of R. Plomin's 2018 book "Blueprint: How DNA Makes US Who We Are" for the American Journal of Psychology is now available as a (non-paywalled) PDF. It contains a critique of key behavioral genetic methods and claims. jayjoseph.net/wp-content/u...

“What does it say about the undemocratic influence of outside pressure groups on our academic institutions when even scholarly discussion of mass suffering among children becomes professionally intolerable?”

My lecture at the American Psychiatric Association's annual meeting on trauma in Gaza was canceled after a pressure campaign by pro-Israel groups. Health professionals must be able to speak about Palestinian suffering without fear of punishment. mondoweiss.net/2026/05/why-...

I see that Google AI found my recently published description of the views of German "racial hygienist" H. W. Siemens. Siemens invented the "classical twin method" in 1924, which compares the behavioral resemblance of identical (MZ) vs. fraternal (DZ) twin pairs. journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/...

In this book, Harden (p. 30) recognized that she did not become a registered criminal based on her LSD possession, due to "unfair privilege afforded by my race and education." This statement helps invalidate the entire "genetics of criminal behavior" project, but that is not what Harden concluded.

Los Angeles Review of Books

"Earthly riches or wretchedness were the necessary and just outcomes of innate superiority or inferiority, whether genetic or providential." Jonathan Basile on Kathryn Paige Harden’s “Original Sin.” https://lareviewofbooks.org/article/original-sin-eugenics-scientific-calvinism-kathryn-paige-harden/

In her new book, K. P. Harden discusses whether criminals are "born that way." The answer is a definitive No, as I showed in a 2001 publication and in my 2004 book, "The Gene Illusion." The main points still stand. jayjoseph.net/wp-content/u...

The reality is that DNA has little if anything to do with causing "psychiatric disorders." Psychiatric genetics is a "null field" of science, producing confirmation-biased p-hacked research, going all the way back to its "Munich School" origins in 1930s Germany. www.madinamerica.com/2015/10/erns...

Today is DNA Day—celebrating the Human Genome Project & DNA’s discovery. These breakthroughs shape how we understand risk. In mental health & addiction, we’re using this to better predict vulnerability & intervene earlier. What’s next? Turning discovery into care: https://loom.ly/LKEC-ZI

N. Cofnas wants to bring the IQ "hereditarian revolution" to Brussels, the "capital of Europe." The EU and NATO are headquartered in Brussels and are supporting the ethnic cleansing and genocide of non-white peoples. Seems like the "revolution" had already taken hold there.

In 1854, the California Supreme Court ruled that "Chinese people" are "a race...whom nature has marked as inferior, and who are incapable of progress or intellectual development beyond a certain point." Now, the average Chinese IQ is among the highest in the world. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People_...

Here's a fun think about Charles Murray: He cites the Yerkes' WWI intelligence tests--which, among other flaws, evaluated test takers on their ability to appreciate the beauty of a woman's face and often presumed all Black test takers to be illiterate--as evidence in The Bell Curve.

For those still interested, "The Gene" by Siddhartha Mukherjee (2016) tells a false story about twin research and the genetics of psychiatric conditions. See my 2019 article. www.madinamerica.com/2019/12/twin...

Twin Studies and Ken Burns' Upcoming Documentary on “The Gene: An Intimate History”Although most of what he wrote about schizophrenia twin research was wrong, Siddhartha Mukherjee's book will be the subject of a three-hour PBS documentary.www.madinamerica.comJasmine

The Gene by Siddhartha Mukherjee - genetics are about predisposition (likeliness) - 52% twin concurrence suggests there is a gene for gayness - PTSD can be inherited; epigenetics links genes & environment. Dutch studies show malnutrition in older generations impacts future generations' development.
