Wasn't that the one that went BOOM at the beginning of 'The Italian Job' when it hit the 'dozer in the tunnel? :)

More likely it will be a big coloured dude with no hair ,the size of a refirgerator, called Momma'. :)

All to keep that mob of Geriatric fascists, the IOC, happy. Lion has had nothing to do with the Olympics. Not even when they were in Sydney.

Lion's first internet service was with Ozemail and they charged $12.50 per connect hour in the evenings. They also let you run your own website.

Lion didn't suit at all at that con apart from a very brief appearance in the 'raptor on Sat night at the inflatables panel. No pics.sadly. He has mostly lost his suiting mojo now.

Another pass over Sydney at 2216. No signal on 145.800Mhz. Going to try for the repeater downlink or Telemetry.

Dunno why they used an Italian station for a Tasmanian contact. Plenty of good radio passes over AU they could have used. :)

There is an ISS pass over Sydney in about 5 mins at 2040. Got the SDR running on 145.8Mhz to see if there is any signal from it.

Thre is also a fur up in QLD with one of those. They have a surprisingly modern sound. Not bad for a half ton bit of gear with 160 odd valves in it. :)

This song of John Denver's was writtten in the 1980's . It is not as well known but even more relevant today. The history of it is in the intro. www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GIl...

Lion doesn't mind the 'vintage ' look especially when he is building gear to an older design. He takes care to get the right parts when he is doing so. ;)

It comes apart for transport. It was part of a RACAL military satelite ground station and came from a dealer in Europe via Ebay.

This dish is quite shallow ( has a F/d ratio of about 0.5) so the simpler feeds like the 'penny' are not suitable. It needs a narrow beam feed like the Kumar, Scalar or a dual mode horn. Just have to finish the feed support and it can be range tested. :)

To be used on this 75cm ex military demountable parabolic dish. There are six 'petals' that fit around the hex center section, only one is fitted in the pic. The square hole in the center is where the feed support is mounted.

Lion normallly goes to the meet at that location but had a few tech things to finish today.
