This is (will be?) #NWP & Daniel Fontaine's m.o. vs #NewWest. #CityHall as enemy (for which current mayor is surrogate); if elected, it predictably devolves: firings, lawsuits, labour disputes. Fomenting "us" (*his* taxpayers) vs "them" (*our* staff), all while earning *our* $. This we must resist.

Excellent piece by @kehyslop.bsky.social on the dilemma #NewWest faces between population/densification & the urgent need to build school capacity. Mustn't there be something better than the current plan, which noone seems happy with?

Gotta wonder who is involved in #NWP social media and what their marching orders are. Persistently demonstrating an incapacity to cooperate or to credit #NewWest city staff for their work is the opposite of a smart way to audition for leadership roles. #VoteNewWest - but not for nonsense like this.

I'm cautiously excited to see a new elector group enter #NewWest municipal politics. Let's welcome them warmly and save concerns like vote splitting for another day. Ouch. Asking "at what point is this city going to say no more population growth until our infrastructure meets current demand" is a chilling & cringe take on cities, economies, & humans. Managing growth in #NewWest is hard—but calling for no more people is both terrible policy and outright yucky.

I emailed the #NewWest Progressive elector group and its elected officials to question their decision to block criticism on Facebook. 4 days later, not a peep in response. Hopefully we'll learn that it's a mistake and not an intentional tactic—for the latter would be deeply concerning. #NWP

Whereas I've noticed a couple anonymous trolls tagging #NewWest of late, one of whom has @-engaged me, I've reflected & decided: I won't directly reply to anonymous accounts, but I may occasionally depict & comment as I am here. Our local social media has already suffered enough from such nonsense.

Sometime after #NWP took flak for posting a mistake-riddled, anti- #NewWest AI image, they quietly replaced the original "S***SHOW" image with another, "unoffensive" piece of AI slop. So much for the criticism that they shouldn't be using #AI in the first place! Why not save h2o & just take a photo?
