This shows just how farcical constructions of 'terrorism' are, and how they exist to criminalise dissent. But to be clear: these constructions are no better when the average terror suspect is a brown or black man in his 20s - the accceptance of which paved the way for our current predicament.
Lizzie DeardenThe average terror suspect arrested in England and Wales is now a white woman in her 50s as a result of the Palestine Action ban Almost 2,800 arrests were made for supporting the group in 6 months - surpassing the number of terror suspects detained in the previous decade inews.co.uk/news/politic...
The UK "needs a political leadership willing to challenge misinformation, confront prejudice and speak up for those who have become the targets of systematic suspicion and violence. The question is whether anyone is willing to do so."
London Review of Books‘This is not our first summer of racially motivated unrest, but the level of fear this time is unprecedented. Videos circulating on social media appear to show masked individuals stopping cars to identify people from immigrant backgrounds.’ Luqman Saeed in Belfast. www.lrb.co.uk/blog/2026/ju...
In the not too distant future, private schools will be advertising themselves on the basis that their pupils are taught to think, read and write without the use of AI. Being able to use your own brain will be treated like a commodity, and a privilege for the elite.
BladeoftheSunKeir Starmer announcing AI tutors for schoolchildren, and AI Jobseekers tools that will write CVs, How many millions/billions are we spending on this trash when we could actually be hiring more teachers and creating jobs to get the job done properly?

Would never use Trump's rhetoric of genocide, but was willing to let Trump use UK bases to conduct one.

This US govt's dehumanisation of whole categories of people on a racist whim will not remain confined to war or people abroad.
Aaron RuparStephen Miller: "The human rights that we are gonna protect are not of the savages that torture and rape and murder. The human rights we are going to protect are of the peaceable citizens who have an absolute human right to live in physical safety and security every day of their lives."
"The absence of justification is not incidental. It is a morbid symptom of an intl system in crisis. The certainties of the US’ hegemonic stewardship of the intl rules-based order have been deformed beyond recognition by the Gaza genocide, but no alternative architecture has cohered in their place"

Israel's policies put the US at risk. So instead of restraining Israel, the US bombed Iran - with no agreement on their end-goal, with zero plans for what comes next, and no system for safe evacuation of US citizens in the region. Does the US have agency in its Middle East foreign policy or not?
