At some point I need to do a proper write up for my locally running agentic development workflow… The underlying methodology & approach is stable. The way I implement it (models / hardware) evolves daily. I’m a little nervous to even talk about it as many folks assume all AI is vibe coded slop

Final push to a mega deadline today. Got a little distracted yesterday re-arranging the playroom layout, moving & rebuilding my desk… The new layout creates a large open space with easy access to sofa, desk, chair & beanbag. Easier for 2-3 people to body double in the room and share the AC :)

They didn’t ’put a man to death’. They tortured him for 30 years first. What a disgusting situation all around.

I guess I’m somewhat bucking the trend here My local model setup & small loop workflow is helping me move way faster. Both on side projects & real work stuff. Quality is good too Built lots of things I’d never have done without the tools I was never a fast dev, so maybe I’m just normal speed now

This x100. It’s part of why so much of the things I build are self contained and running on the most boring tools. I want stable stuff that doesn’t have a billion dependencies and constant changes. I’ll happily use lots of tech upfront to make the actual running code simple & robust.

‘Expensive’ is such a great word for speech. In many situations I can make words work, but the energy cost can be catastrophic. Places with loud background music or other people talking nearby are good examples. Zoom meeting with audio lag etc.

Woke up at 4am… did ADHD meds.. but so excited I started before they kicked in I’ve never enjoyed tech as much as I do right now Building heaps of fun side projects & a big new thing for @ermiltd.bsky.social Using every drop of performance from the new PC, gaming PC & Mac all working together :)

This is also part of the fun When I had it working properly… the new PC with the load balencer & ‘slots’ approach was 5x faster than my old approach it’s only 3x the hardware… the rest from the clever scheduler & memory management stuff An update broke it so badly I had to reinstall the whole PC!

Is it me of do mosquito bites hurt way more than they use too? The nibbly sods caught my angle a few days ago and it’s been pure sensory hell. @devpanda.uk gave me some creme which is helping a bit May get a mozzie net for my bedroom we window. Try and keep them out during the night.

Lost an entire day to some werid driver & software incompatibility stuff yesterday… I guess they call it ‘bleeding edge’ for a reason. Ouchy. Got a good night of sleep. Back at it today. I’ll work it out. :)

This is how I do stuff too :) It’s deeply satisfying when it all lines up. Kinda like dominoes… It’s one of the reasons I build so many ‘Pipeline’ and stream based tools. I can easily compose reusable units I already have into something new. Or use it as input for another process :)

My life feels surreal! I think teenage me wouldn’t believe the things I get to do & the tech I get to play with PC came via a new project I’m doing with a friend They believe in me enough they invested in the hardware needed to scale up my approach & make it happen I feel so lucky. Lots to do!

Woohoo! It’s finally ready! It’s been a mega busy getting this beast setup & configured… It’s huge! Bigger than the photos look… my friends got it off the pallet & wiggled it into place for me on Friday :) It’s so much faster. Literally 3x what we had before & we’re using all the oomph already!

So excited for this. Arriving today! It’s literally making the new project build possible with such a tight deadline Can’t wait to share all about the new project & how we’re building it once it launches It’s easily the most complex thing I’ve ever built. Might end up being the most impactful too

Same as Fergus. Luma seems really good. The forms are pretty darn accessible too. I’ve come away impressed each time I’ve interacted with it :)

Life can be pretty surreal sometimes… I’ve got a new PC on the way from @scancomputers.bsky.social… it’s arriving on a pallet (!) It’s basically a build, dev & tools server for a big project I’m working on It’s huge… with enough space to stick bits from my current PC inside for maximum speed :)

Wow. Found my first CSS / GPU performance bug in ages on iOS. Combining ‘aspect-ratio: 1’ and ‘object-fit: cover’ on a gallery of images was enough to overload the GPU & crash Safari. It’s just a little side project, but shows why it’s important to test stuff on real devices!

Glad my GP is on top of privacy stuff. Some wires got crossed with my social worker and they requested medical data unexpectedly. GP stopped it and messaged me to alert me and ask me what I wanted to do. Well done GP. They sent me the records so I can discuss & choose what to pass on etc.

Have got into a habit of working on little personal tools in the morning while my ADHD meds boot. This morning I’ve been improving my mini feed reader to support following a Reddit thread as well as Bluesky & RSS feeds. Getting info in one place so i can check it more easily :)
