I did this for legislation in the spring. Closed book. Gave students the materials (including rule statements) I wanted them to apply but didn’t expect them to remember. I thought it worked well but anecdotally students hated it

There's a lot of concern about the impact that LLMs are having on developing minds, and not nearly enough discussion that it might be corroding the brains of our elderly legislators.

Professors using LLMs to do their work like this do not deserve tenure, nope. But soon enough, our admins and college boards will be asking why bother to have faculty at all, if they can just pay a bunch of AI agents to "do" academia, and I do wish we would think of AI as a labor issue
