I just thought it was hilarious that they recreated an exact century old debate that was resolved almost a hundred years ago now

You’re at VT?

Very important

Very excited to read that when it comes out!

Very cool! Are such healed pathologies common for these fishes? My general sense is that they are rare in the fossil record overall.

I need to do more research on it but it’s something I’ve seen on social media. I would LOVE to be wrong. The only good news is that they are being scanned, so the information isn’t totally lost.

I told someone who posted that on Facebook that is the best specimen of that “Amphicentrum” that exists, could be the subject of a re-description.

As for Kinney fish I’ve worked on several, but JP Hodnett probably knows the most. There are several undescribed species, including at least one deep-bodied form

Yes there is a worker in France who is working on them, Daniel Goncalves. He’s done some great work on aeduellids. The one from Kinney was described but not named by Michael Gottfried. Let me know if you’d like the papers.

I hold you personally responsible for that monstrosity

It’s a pay to win test, pure and simple. It’s designed so they can sell you a better score. A clever business model but not something we should be using to evaluate students.

I disagree that SAT and GRE are independent. Success correlates directly with money (and thus elite schools) you have to spend on multiple attempts, test books, courses. I did well on the GRE because I could afford to take it multiple times and spend an entire summer studying.
