Good news in CA: @asmchrisward.bsky.social's AB 2222, a bill to help newsrooms retain and hire local journalists, passed out of the Assembly Appropriations Committee on a bipartisan 14–2 vote and added @buffywicks.bsky.social as a joint author. The bill heads to an Assembly floor vote next week.
Like, I dunno, if I were making economic policy for the Democratic party going forward, using interstate commerce power to blow up direct-sales prohibitions for cars would be something I'd really consider working in there. They weren't going to vote for you anyway, right?
