Y’all. They signed papers in early January and then decided not to come to school before classes started. There’s no world where the conditions under which they signed these papers, decided not to attend school, and get sued for a combined $1 million is anything other than straight up exploitation.

I want us to think carefully about what this lawsuit says about a class of students: that they owe the university their labor, or else. I don’t care what legal standing the university has here, they’re suing students for wanting to go elsewhere and that’s simply deplorable.

Mississippi Free PressGlen H. Davidson dismissed Lauren Stokes' lawsuit in March, ruling that Stokes had failed to establish a violation of her First Amendment rights. He also ruled University of Mississippi Chancellor Glenn Boyce was acting in his official capacity as a state employee when he fired Stokes.
The tell here is she doesn’t think plumbers ought to have the same education as her.
