I see people saying Who and Bond are too big to not come back successfully and over and over, but I'm not so sure about that (and certainly it forgets how close they both came to being obsolete in the 90s). Look how poor old Tarzan used to be the biggest character on the planet.

Though I guess as America gets more puritanical and seeing boobs gets harder, maybe some classic sleezy slashers will have their moment again. But, I guess it's a lesson there really is no such thing as an eternally popular franchise, however hard some studios try and keep the life support on.

It's been almost as long again, and we've only had one Friday film since (though that "Prequel" TV show is apparently A Thing), and I don't think many younger people are discovering and enjoying these films anymore because the Internet lets them see boobs any time they like.

As the only obvious realistic answers were I was going mentally ill, a ghost, or the hotel had gnomes. Luckily the guy came in to do when I was there on the last day, reasurung me I was safe from gnomes. But a really odd minimal effort thing.

Someone came in my room every day, but didn't empty the bin or replace the dirty cup. Or even change the sheets that somehow might have gotten some pizza sauce on them. They'd move a towel slightly or put the (still dirty) cup back on the tray. Minor things leaving me worried.
