Imbibe Coffee Roasters

We roast speciality coffee very very well. We give: 1% of all our revenue to Women's Aid 1% to origin projects 1% to local projects 1% to staff = > 30% of profits Big businesses could easily run similarly. www.imbibe.ie

I've issues with media personalities with more than enough cash promoting gambling companies who are a scourge on many lives. Particularly shit when it's someone who brought you joy and seemed decent. Cantona is the big one for me. Had problems with Meaney since time he did ads for Bank of Scotland.

As many of you know, we've given 1% of all the money you spend with us to @womensaidireland.bsky.social for over 8 years. A few years ago, we decided to increase this donation to 10% on Bank Holiday weekends. From midnight, it’s a Bank Holiday... Image made by a real life designer.

Just in one of my favourite restaurants. It’s a little noodle/dumpling place that’s pretty inexpensive. Guy beside me was asking about menu and then asked if he could taste two dishes before ordering them. This is why I could never own a cafe. Would spend way too much time asking people to leave.

Many tech bros have a sincere belief that they make the best decisions and so effectively should be the real leaders/drivers of government policy. If they continue to accumulate wealth at current pace and gut jobs through AI, then our tax base will be obliterated and their goal will become true.

Collison had given $7M to a campaign to stop a one off wealth tax on billionaires. He's still miles behind Sergey Brin ($82M), but what a massive and continued disappointment these guys are. www.irishtimes.com/politics/202...

If it's not the sound of the bubble popping, it does at least seem to be losing quite a bit of air. giftarticle.ft.com/giftarticle/...

Ethical or supposedly ethical businesses can seem complicated or short on detail when you scratch the surface of promises. What we do is really simple. We give up 4% of all our income which has been over 30%of profits in each of last 4 years. We're not a social enterprise or charity.

We need more people like Gary Stevenson. They need greater coverage. I’m all for pithy comments dunking on billionaires but they really don’t achieve all that much. Most people who are ‘offline’ don’t know who Stevenson or those like him are. These coherent arguments need to become mainstream.

The smartest people I know and wealthiest people I know are two entirely different lists. I think sometimes people equate wealth (even self made wealth), with intelligence. Timing and luck are often discounted when it comes to making money. They’re two massive factors.

I’m not sure how anyone can separate owning a Tesla from Musk’s politics. He’s makes no attempt to hide it. He’s saying it very loudly. He’s a Nazi. Stop buying his fucking cars.

Kids at my Mam’s so got to use my MUBI sub! Watched ‘A Useful Ghost’. Won critics prize at Cannes. Brilliant absurdist dark comedy - man’s wife dies and comes back by possessing the vacuum cleaner. Some genuine laugh out loud moments. MUBI is so good. Shame I don’t get to use it as much as I’d like.

Small podcasts are a bit like indie shops. Many like what they do but don’t support and mourn when gone. We support this as otherwise theyd be doing it for free. These guys are culture journos with calibre. Follow/listen. If you like music/books/TV you’ll enjoy it. podcasts.apple.com/ie/podcast/g...

For years we’ve been asked about brewing classes. Not something I wanted to do. We sell coffee. That’s it. However some of the guys in roastery want to do it. There’d be cost involved if they were to set this up themselves so they’re going to do it under the Imbibe umbrella but they’ll get the money

Kids just spilt some water so I'm reminded to again offer my killer business idea from years ago. A tea towel that absorbs. That's it. You'll make a fortune.

Most media seems to focus on the idea that all business has to be about scaling or trying to become massive. The idea of being happy to be succeeding on a small scale and not wanting to be bigger doesn't appear to exist. This is insane and wrong on so so many levels.
