I walk. I write. I ride the rails (via Amtrak). I seem nice, but I am a prickly curmudgeon who has no patience for car culture.

@humantransit.bsky.social is one of the most rational thinkers/practitioners working in transit. I've learned from him to follow the math. EPISODE 178: Human Transit with Jarrett Walker – The War on Cars share.google/0qF6l9ZA8sfE...

Over the weekend, I wanted to go somewhere where public and shared transport didn't make sense, so, rather than not go, I rented a car. For two days. $80. I might even have to do that a few times a year. What's your car payment?

Politics of Cars

Owning a car leads to the car owning you.

This is why I don't complain about kids on electric bikes, even tho it annoys me. My annoyance is not more important than their enjoyment.

I saw a kid/teen ________________ (insert complaint about kids/teen existing in the public realm doing basically anything kids do) Then say: Kids just don't go outside now, when we were young we were outside all day and got up to all sorts of hilarious trouble.

Cities are for people. Stay and help, if you agree.

Some folks want to destroy transit because they can't admit that their chosen alternative is doomed to fail.

The city should commission a study to find out if this is true.

Transportation Alternatives

"The crosstown corridor of 42nd Street, from First to 12th Avenue, was turned into a dedicated bus-and-shuttle corridor... According to city transit officials, travel times were about 23 percent faster than usual, even with a million more people in town for the tournament."

Always be mindful that people on bikes are not people, they don't have money, and they are in perpetual motion serving only one purpose: to annoy motorists and bankrupt small business owners.

Walk Ride Rochdale

Really disappointing to see things like this being said in the run up to the #MayoralElection - there is no “eight lane” scheme in #Rochdale or anywhere else for that matter. The current system only works for drivers, in a town where 1:3 households don’t have a car. We need #TransportChoice

No, they aren't. The perceived infinity of space gets mathematically tricky when you factor in "destination" People, even billionaires, like to congregate.

China has access to our voter rolls, ergo, each ballot must be counted, as it is as cast, in person, by a white person holding their birth certificate and a passport, who agrees with the president. Why don't the dumbocrats agree with common sense election security.

The US House is considering a transportation bill that would cut transit funding massively. We estimate that it would cut transit funds by 23% compared to the current infrastructure law. Every state would lose millions of dollars in transit formula funding. Details: www.urban.org/urban-wire/h...
